About Us

What we are—

SinC Middle Tennessee was founded in 1993, six years after the launch of the now-international organization Sisters in Crime. As with our parent group, we are committed to strengthening the voice of women in the mystery field. The purpose of Sisters in Crime is "to combat discrimination against women in the mystery field, educate publishers and the general public as to inequalities in the treatment of female authors, and raise the level of awareness of their contribution to the field."

Our chapter is a collection of Middle Tennesseans from Nashville and the surrounding area who love the mystery genre. Our members include both women and men, a mixture of published and unpublished writers, along with committed readers from all walks of life.

What we do—

SinC Middle Tennessee holds monthly meetings at Davis-Kidd Booksellers (with a couple of exceptions—see the Meetings page) and participates in various events, such as the Southern Festival of Books and library programs. We recently published a chapter cookbook laced with short mystery fiction written by members. We support our writer members, nurture those not yet published, and encourage others to become crime fiction readers and join the mystery community.

What's next—

SinC Middle Tennessee has plans to move into other areas, such as publishing an anthology of short stories by member authors. This newly-designed website is an effort to increase our visibility and provide additional benefits for our members. We have more ideas in the works that we plan to announce soon.
